Breaking in the Harley

Last weekend we went on an overnight motorcycle trip. It was Isaiah's first trip on his new Harley. Even though it was FREEZING COLD I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

We stopped in Bryce Canyon and walked the Bryce Point. The View was AMAZING!

Our biker gang are Isaiah's coworkers. Jubal (far left) and Chris (to the right of me) are single if there are any interested ladies :)
After Bryce we road through the Escalante Staircase on the most scenic highway in Utah. The views were absolutely stunning. You could seriously see forever. We stopped to get a few pictures of the boys and their bikes. I didn't post them but they had me take about ten different pictures so we could get the bikes from every angle. Boys and their bikes :)

Aren't we the cutest biker couple ever?
Before the trip Isaiah bought us some Harley Davidson boots. With the boots and our Leather chaps we're definitely riding in style.

There was a HUGE crow behind us on a tree. It looks like it is standing on Chris' head.

Just enjoying the view.

It's so amazing the see the world on the back of a motorcycle. I'm always impressed at the diversity in landscaping that the Lord created. We really are soooo lucky to live in Utah and have so many national parks within a few hours drive...or ride!

Isaiah more Prince or RM?

People are always telling Isaiah he looks like Prince William. I was going through some of our wedding pictures last night and saw this one. When I saw it I thought WOW, he really does! I always knew he was my prince charming :)

What do you think? Can you see the royal resemblance?

Isaiah says at work people come up to him and tell him he looks like that guy from the RM. I'm assuming they are talking about Kirby Heyborne. The resemblance isn't as striking but I guess it's there...

So I thought this would be a fun poll. Do you think Isaiah looks more like Prince William or Kirby Heyborne. Be sure to vote and leave a comment too!

i {heart} homework

The title says it all...who doesn't {heart} homework? My two classes this semester have been pretty manageable...Read this book, write that paper, post this discussion, do this group project, etc. etc. I'm midway through the semester but I am starting to lose my steam!

I look like this most nights - after spending 8 hours on a computer at work I come home and spend hours on the computer doing homework (or pretending to do homework and just looking at everyone's blogs)....

And my piles of homework feel like this....(even though they really are much smaller in reality)

The worst part if one of my professors accidentally listed Spring Break as next week but it is really the week after (so much disappointment)! The good news is I am halfway through the semester. I'm tired of cold weather but if it is any consolation to anyone at least it's cold weather and I'm stuck inside doing homework and not beautiful warm spring weather outside and I'm stuck inside doing homework!
Isaiah is also getting anxious for warm weather. He sold his Honda Shadow last month and bought a HARLEY DAVIDSON!! We're both ready for it to warm up so we can go for a ride and feel the wind blow through our helmets (safety first of course). Once it warms up and his bike comes out of the garage I'll be posting some pictures. It's a pretty sweet bike :)

Valentine's Day Houses

Happy Valentine's Day! While the holiday can be very commercial it's always nice to have a special day to sit back and reflect about the ones you love. Isaiah and I feel so lucky to have each other as Valentines!

So...for the fun stuff. Usually we like to get together with our neighbors around Christmas and do gingerbread houses. Last Christmas we were all so busy we didn't get the chance so instead we got together to make Valentine houses! It was so much fun! I think this should be our new tradition since Valentines is a much less hectic holiday!

Kaylee (next to Isaiah) is making a funny sad face because her house broke. She is always so ambitious when we do houses. She built a dresser and a bed in her house.

Alyssa's house turned out so cute. I love that she decided to peek through the roof in the picture.

Brookie's tactic was to put as much candy and frosting on as possible. She was so cute. Before we started she decided we would make our houses for each other. Whenever I added candy to my house she would say "Thanks! I was hoping you would do that!" What a cutie!

Isaiah and I love these girlies! Their parents tell us all the time that the girls pray that a birth mom will place their baby with us. Alyssa hopes we will get a girl but we would be happy with either :) We appreciate all the help their sweet prayers give us!

Thanks Scott and Melissa for letting us make a mess in your house! We had tons of fun!
Happy Valentines Everyone!!

Generational Gap: Observation 1 (of many I'm sure)

So last Wednesday I attended my first mutual activity with my Beehives. Coming into Young Women's I thought - this is great, I'm not that much older than these girls and will able to really relate to them, right?

One of our girl's mom is the Beehive advisor. Her daughter was teasing her about LOVING Bon Jovi. I figured these girls would think I was cool because in highschool I was post-Bon Jovi and I listened to 'NSYNC.

That's were I was wrong. When I said I loved 'NSYNC in highschool they said - Who?

Who?! How can they not know who 'NSYNC is?! So much for trying to be cool :)

I'll probably need to dust off my old CDs and photo albums for another mutual activity. Maybe we can talk about the "oldies" and I'll educate them on the boy bands that helped pave the way for the Jonas Brothers.

I'm sure they'd be so impressed with this picture from my first 'NSYNC concert (yes I went to more than one :)

And they'd also think I'm super cool because 'NSYNC decorated the inside of my locker :) (Isaiah will be so embarassed I posted this. If any potential birth moms read this post please know I'm way cooler now :) (LOL)

Really I should have done my homework. My girls were between the ages of 3 and 6 when these pictures were taken. Wow, we really are getting old!

I imagine this will be the first of many observations of the generational gap between my 26 year old self and these hilarious beehives!

Goodbye San Fran!

So how would you spend your last day in San Francisco? I spent the morning finishing up homework for my online classes and took a test. Isaiah spent the morning selling his motorcycle. Quite frankly...we're beat! We mostly relaxed today. San Francisco has been wonderful but we are ready to get back home!

The best part of the trip (according to Isaiah) Alcatraz because the tour was really cool! The worst part (according to Isaiah) some really gross Thai food we ate today (we were trying to get out of our food comfort zone but really it was no good).

For me the best part was being able to spend time with Isaiah. I'm so lucky to have such a great husband who likes to go out and do stuff. The worst part was having to do homework. (I'm taking online classes through SLCC to finish up the last few classes I need to take to get my associates degree. )

Here are a few pictures from our day of leisure...

Isaiah riding the cable car...

View of the street from the cable car...
Before we left we had to go back from another cupcake. This place was soooo good!

These are our coconut vanilla cupcakes. Man where they tasty!

After our cupcakes we walked down to the beach and sat on a bench to watch the water.
This about sums it up. Isaiah + Rosie forever :)

SLC here we come! We can't wait to get home :)

The Rock - Alcatraz

Yesterday we hung around Fisherman's Wharf and the pier for most of the day before heading out on the ferry to Alcatraz.

This is us riding the cable car to the pier. They really do let you hold on and ride on the outside of the car like you see in the movies. You just have to be careful not to hang out or you'll get hit by a car!

These cable cars were parked at the end of the line. They're really cool to ride and a very iconic part of San Francisco.
We checked out the aquarium at the bay. It wasn't as spectacular as the aquarium we went to on Tuesday but it had some cool stuff.
This was their Nemo tank. Can you spot Dorie, Marlin and Nemo?

The coolest part of this aquarium was the under ground tube. It is set underneath the bay so you see the underside of all the animals in the water. It's a little bit weird being in the tube. If the great California earthquake happened that is not where I'd want to be!

We signed up to take the night tour of Alcatraz. It started with a boat ride around the island. Originally Alcatraz was built for the military to help protect the bay during the gold rush. Later is was converted to a military prison, then it's most famous job was the maximum security prison most of us know it as. January 29th is the 102nd anniversary of the island so we picked a good day to go :)

The large building behind us is the cell house where the inmates were housed.

Most of the pics of the inside didn't turn out great. This is what the cells looked like. There are three levels of cells on each side.

The cells were so small too!! This one is missing the small cot they would have slept in.

This is what a cell in Block D looks like. Block D is where prisoners were kept in solitary confinement. When the door closes on this cell it is pitch black!

Me enjoying the tour :)

This is a prisoner's view of the San Francisco sun setting behind the Golden Gate Bridge. San Francisco is about a mile and a half swim from Alcatraz. The view was torturous to inmates because the city was so close yet so far away.

This is us with San Francisco behind us. Our little camera doesn't do the view justice. The view of the city from Alcatraz was SPECTACULAR!!

After the audio tour one of the park rangers told us about some of the different escape attempts. Out of 36 escape attempts only one person is known to make it to shore - then within 2 hours he was picked up by authorities. 3 people escaped and were never confirmed dead or alive...dun dun dun. If you are ever in the San Francisco area an Alcatraz Tour is a must. It really is pretty cool to see the island and tour the prison.
