My First Official Mother's Day

Mother's day this year was just awesome. Isaiah helped Addison write me a card and draw a picture of our family. It was really cute :)

I was really excited when this arrived the next day...

Addison and Isaiah got me a baby carrier!!

I LOVE it! It is super comfortable and Addison loves it too. She falls asleep within 2 minutes of being strapped in. The other day I vacuumed with her in the carrier and she was in heaven :)

We took Addison on her first walk in it too. My favorite part is you can feel her "hug" you when she is in it, she will snuggle into you and kind of squeeze you :) It's pretty darn cute.

PS. Isaiah and I didn't mean to both wear green. It's funny that we often unintentionally match - especially on Sundays.

Delicious Homemade Tomato Soup

Isaiah found this recipe off of foodnetwork.com. It is one of our FAVORITE recipes. It is easy to make, super healthy and taste deeeelicious with grilled cheese sandwiches. Another great thing is that is freezes well. I usually make a double batch then portion out single servings in quart size freezer bags. That way it's easy to grab for lunch when I'm running out the door for work.

Here are some pictures to get your tastebuds thinking. The recipe is at the bottom :)

Diced tomatoes roasting in the oven....mmmm.... can you smell the garlic?

Fresh healthy vegetables cooking down in a pan.

Add them all together and simmer.

Blend and enjoy!

(The recipe calls for cream and butter, I leave them out and have never missed the taste or the calories. I also add more broth or extra water to thin the soup out a little bit).

Family Scripture Study

Isaiah and I love to read scriptures together with Addison. I took this picture because I thought it was so cute that Addison was just sitting there watching Isaiah as he read out loud.

I've been watching the last conference session on Sundays since Addison can't go to church yet. Elder Bednar's talk really caught my attention when he said this:

Youth of all ages, even infants, can and do respond to the distinctive spirit of the Book of Mormon. Children may not understand all of the words and stories, but they certainly can feel the “familiar spirit” described by Isaiah.

It's an important reminder that no matter how young our kids are it's never too early to start reading scriptures to them. Studying scriptures as a family brings an amazing spirit into our home and it such a blessing.

I thought it was funny that he specifically mentioned Isaiah. It was like he was talking specifically to us and was ironic considering the cute moment we'd captured a few days before.

We are so blessed to have sweet Addison in our home.

Addison's Birth

Isaiah and I were super lucky to be able to be at the hospital when Addison was born. It was such an amazing experience to be able to listen outside the delivery room and hear our little girl being born. Addison's birth family was so amazing to let us be apart of her birth. We have been so blessed to be apart of their lives. Addison's birth has been a blessing to so many people. We will never cease to be amazed at Heavenly Father's plan and the intricate way he blesses and guides all of our lives.

Such a cute face and tons of hair!

Addison is a very alert and attentive baby. I think she's checking me out and wondering if I'll be a super fun mom (the answer is yes :)

She is a WAAAAAY smiley baby. We were fortunate this smile was captured on film. I've not been successful in capturing one myself. Even at 2 days old she was smiling away!

I love to burp Addison and snuggle my face in all her soft hair. It is so silky and often tickles our noses on accident.

2 days old. I'm amazed how much she has changed in the last 2 weeks. She is growing so fast!

Such little feet.

She is priceless.

A few observations

Milk mustaches are for weaklings that can't grow a milk beard.

Addison's stunt double has been indentified...

Parenthood thus far

I can't believe Miss Addison is already a week old. It is so much fun to have a baby in our home. So far Isaiah and I have adapted well to the lack of sleep a newborn brings. We can't complain too much though. She is such a happy and content baby who rarely cries and smiles all the time!

Here are a few of my favorite pics so far.

Addison can sleep anywhere and through anything! Isaiah was trying to burp her and she was zonked!

Proud Dad moment #1. Dressing your little girl.
I was at class on Thursday night and Addison spit up on herself. Isaiah wasn't sure how her clothes were organized so he checked the hanger and it said 0-3 months. He thought it looked a little big...LOL, it was a 3-6 month outfit and it was huge!
This picture also features the adorable Mary Jane socks my sister Nicole sent Addison all the way from Texas. They are super cute :)

Addison is a very alert baby. She has the biggest brightest eyes I've ever seen on a newborn. Her favorite time to be wide awake is around 2AM...lovely :) She really is daddy's princess. Isaiah loves being a dad and has been really good about getting up with her at night and taking his turn on changing diapers.
The other night Isaiah was up with her and I could hear him laughing. She makes the cutest faces and they make the late night feedings all worth the sleep deprivation.

A couple of snuggle buddies.

Being a mom is everything I hoped it would be. It's cool to hear her cry and know exactly what she needs. It's weird how you really can tell the difference between their different cries. I'm so amazed at the love you can feel for someone so small. Life is awesome!
