Fish are Friends not Food

Isaiah and I spent the afternoon today at the Museum of Natural Life down at Thanksgiving Point.

Looking for love in all the wrong places...

Isaiah's not willing to stand by while a raptor smooches his wifey.

I'm not so sure that humans evolved from chimpanzees...

Isaiah most likey evolved from the T-Rex (note the fearsome claws)

I evolved from the peaceable Triceratops :)

We were watchful around the dinosaurs but Isaiah unwittingly swam into a sharks' mouth. (Don't forget fish are friends, not food).

I thought I'd try my skills as a paleontologist. I think I found something!

Until the storks comes....

Does anyone ever wonder what Isaiah and I do since we don't have kids? It seems like everyone we know is in the midst of raising their kidlets. People always tell us to really enjoy the time we have with each other before our kids arrive (in our case we really are waiting for the stork to drop a couple off :)

Here is a little bit of what the currently childless wonders have been up to :)

A few weeks ago we went to the Salt Lake fair with some friends.

We decided it would be fun to race down the Yellow Slide (of doom)...

I am second from the left. Note that Isaiah (3rd from the left) was about half way down before I got the guts to start going. I screamed like a little girl the whole way down. It was really funny and went MUCH faster than I expected. I saw a little girl go down when I was walking up the stairs and since she didn't die when she hit the bottom I figured I could also manage.

Needless to say I lost :(

Heather and Isaiah couldn't resist paying $2 dollars to see the world's smallest woman...

How tall was she? About 2 feet tall. Heather and Isaiah both came out laughing - which the rest of us thought was terrible, until they told us when they walked back to see her there was a 2 foot tall person counting a whole stack of cash. They said it was REALLY awkward! What did they expect? LOL.

We went to Wheeler Farm last week to enjoy the last of the beautiful weather.
This is one of our favorite get aways. Nothing like a bag of stale wonder bread and an afternoon at Wheeler Farm.

Isaiah is so good with animals they eat out of his hands...

I thought the 2 ducks in the middle where quite posh. They had these enormous wads of feathers stuck to the back of their heads. I imagine they're the envy of all the plain ducks. They must have flown in from Hollywood or something.

Last but not least...here is a picture of where our future home will be. We've picked out all our options and signed all the paper work and are just waiting for the city to approve the building permit before they break ground. Pretty much it's just a bunch of dirt right now but in 4 or 5 months this little plot of land will be home!

Do you have andROID Rage?

My brother in law is a TALENTED artist and entered one of his designs to be printed on a T-Shirt.

You can check out the link below...

andROID RAGE! - Threadless T-shirts, Nude No More

Get it? Angry Androids?

If you like it you might even consider quickly registering for an account and voting (a "5" and marking that you would buy it is the best vote). No pressure though. My sister and her husband are starving and are hoping they can feed themselves with the money he makes from designing T shirts :)

Just for fun here is the last T shirt he designed. The voting is over on this one and they are waiting to find out if it will be printed. I think this design is really cool...

Settling In...

Isaiah and I sold our first home a few weeks ago. I really wish we had taken before and after pictures from when we first moved in. The previous owners had taken less than stellar care of the home. After a little paint, carpet and a lot of cleaning and love it was a great little home.

I did at least have the foresight to have our neighbor Adam snap a picture of us after we had moved out the last box and scrubbed the last bathroom. There is nothing like buying your first home and nothing like locking the door and leaving it for the last time. Isaiah and I LOVED our ward and are sad to have left. We're excited for our next adventure...building a home in Riverton (I'm sure there will be many more pictures to follow once they start building).

Here are a few pictures I snapped to comemorate moving day...

I always wondered what was on the other side of those deer antlers... (ha ha ha)

Don't get the wrong impression from the picture. Isaiah really did work hard.

It is a little weird to pack your entire life away into a 16 foot storage pod. I am impressed how much stuff those pods can hold.

So for now we will be staying with my mom in Sandy. It's been fun to hang out with my family and not nearly as weird as I thought to live at home again. Althought it is a little weird living with Isaiah in my old bedroom (which is size-ably smaller than our 16 ft storage pod...I'll have to post a picture of it sometime).

New Adoption Blog!

Nothing too new on the adoption front. Isaiah and I are still waiting patiently for our stork to come :)

We got the idea to do a blog that is about us adopting from a couple we met through LDS Family Services. It's a great idea since it has all the information a perspective birth mom might want to know about us.

Our new adoption blog is meetrfam.blogspot.com. If you have a link on your blog to our adoption profile will you update it to our new blog? The Itsaboutlove site relaunched a few weeks ago and that link won't work any more.

We really do appreciate everyone's help who has added our info on our blog. You never know who might see it that could help connect us with our future birth mom!

My Day Off, A Photo Essay

Isaiah and I normally have Thursdays off together. Since he had to work Thursday I decided to do some shopping. I after everything I saw I decided to title this day off "Rosie's Grand Photo Adventure."

Here are a few of the things I saw...

This isn't so much crazy as it is pretty and tasty. We decided to go out to breakfast and this was my oatmeal in an oatmeal cookie bowl from Paradise Bakery. Seriously delicious!

Outdoorsmen Mecca. We ran to Cabela's before Isaiah had to be to work to look for camping equipment for youth conference. Seriously-this place is ridiculous if you've never been here.

In the middle of the store there are animal carcasses posing. So weird.

Here's a close up of the weirdness.

Watch out little fish. You might be swimming now but you'll be taxidermied too if you misbehave.

On the way out this caught my eye. Yes...it's a baby onesie, Cabela style. It is the UGLIEST thing I have ever seen. To make it worse when you turned it over there were 3 lines of lace ruffles on the bum! The only thing that would have made it worse would have been if they used the bright orange hunting color for the lace.

I'm still cracking up about this outfit, mostly because I can't tell if they are gag gifts or if people really buy them because they think they're cute.

After I dropped Isaiah off at work I headed down to the Gateway to do a little shopping.

Have you ever seen a pink port-a-potty before? I figured since Green ones are called "John's" the pink ones must be called "Jane's"...ha ha ha. I'm so funny.

I found this book at Urban Outfitters. This sums up my long day of errands and shopping. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. My only regret is that I didn't pick it up and read a few pages.

Pioneer and Indian Road Trip!

My cousin got married last weekend so I figured we would turn the drive into a mini road trip. We recruited my sister and her husband Jon into coming with us and had a blast.

Our first stop was Cove Fort. Cove Fort was built in 1847 by Ira Hinckley and his family (President Hinckley's grandpa I think). The Fort was used to give travelers a place to rest. It was restored and turned back over to the Church in 1988 by the Hinckley family and was dedicated in 1992 by President Hinckley.

During the tour we learned that the Hinckley family and probably all early settlers were very resourceful and didn't waste anything! For example - A worn out dress would be cut into shreds to weave into a rug. When the rug wore out it would be cut up and burned in the fire - after it was burned the ashes would be mixed with animal fat and lye to be made into soap. If we were only half as resourceful as they were I'm sure we'd save thousands of dollars a year on stuff we don't need.

This is a picture of the four of us in the interior of the fort. You can see the lava rock they used to build the fort behind us.

The tour guide told us how the door ishollow and was filled with sand to stop bullets or arrows from penetrating. She also told us that the Hinckley family was so well respected by the Native Americans that they never attacked the fort.

Next on our stop was Fremont Indian State Park. This place is cool if you are into rock carvings, pictographs or petroglyphs.

The artifacts from the Fremont Indians weren't discovered in Southern Utah until 1983 when surveyors were sent out to check the area before I 70 was going to be built. They discovered a cave of rock drawings and later a huge city.

It's kind of neat to think that stuff is all around us just waiting to be discovered - even in Utah. The Fremont Indians lived in Utah around 1500 AD or so.

We went on a short hike and saw some of the carvings.

If you look right above my head you can see some more.

This was one of the homes they found. You can actually climb down inside and look at it. The Fremont Indians lived in underground dirt homes.

There is also a museum and visitor center at the park. Jon and Nicole made friends with some of the woodland creatures.

After a long day of site seeing we went to my cousin's reception (she had the reception the night before the wedding...weird I know :)
These are our cute grandparents. I am named after my grandma Rosalie :)

We got up early Saturday morning to do initiatories before my cousin's sealing. Once we got there though we found out they don't do initiatories until later on Saturday. They let us go and do sealings with the temple workers who do them between sessions. It was really neat to be able to do sealings with my sweetheart, sister and her husband. Everytime I do sealings I think about how cool it will be when we adopt a baby to have them sealed to us. They will be able to receive all the same blessings that children who are born the their parents receive.
My cousins sealing was really neat to. The Manti temple is absolutely BEAUTIFUL inside. It's definitely one of my new favorites.

It was a fun weekend of traveling, laughing and visiting with family. I'm hoping maybe the next cousin to get married will decide to get sealed in the Hawaii temple or something so we'll have an excuse to go there :)
